About Faith In Women

Welcome to Faith In Women, where we strive to create a world where everyone has access to what they need, free from systems of hierarchy and oppression. We are dedicated to affirming and uplifting the dignity and bodily autonomy of every individual. Our mission focuses on addressing the unique challenges faced by women and girls in Mississippi, especially those from marginalized communities.

Our Cherished Vision is of a world

  • where everyone has what they need,

  • where systems of hierarchy and oppression no longer exist, and

  • where the dignity and bodily autonomy of every human is affirmed and uplifted.

In Mississippi, we’re not there yet.

At Faith in Women, we acknowledge that white supremacy, patriarchy, and Christian supremacy are forces that shape every aspect of daily life for Mississippians. These systems hurt everyone. But Mississippi’s women and girls, especially Black women and girls, face disproportionate obstacles to building the lives we dream of.

Even under these circumstances, Mississippi women have been on the forefront of every movement for justice and progress. And when we have what we need to thrive, amazing things happen- for everyone.

Our Commitment

At Faith In Women, we are committed to:

  • Empowering Women and Girls: Ensuring they have the resources and support needed to thrive.

  • Challenging Oppressive Systems: Working towards dismantling structures that perpetuate inequality.

  • Promoting Reproductive Justice: Advocating for comprehensive healthcare and bodily autonomy for all.

Our Team

  • Reverend Elizabeth Davidson has been deeply connected to Faith In Women since its inception, aligning perfectly with her calling as a United Methodist pastor. She first encountered Ashley and the mission of Faith In Women in 2015, during her initial Annual Conference of the Mississippi United Methodist Conference, where she was commissioned as a deacon. In her tradition, deacons are fully ordained clergy committed to equipping and engaging the faith community through "Word, service, justice, and compassion."

Reverend Davidson's work is enriched by collaborating with a diverse network of organizations and individuals dedicated to reproductive justice in Mississippi. Her efforts focus on educating and empowering people of faith to embrace reproductive justice as a vital aspect of their discipleship.

She passionately believes that bodily autonomy is fundamental to wellbeing—to feeling safe and loved. As Christians, Reverend Davidson emphasizes, our highest calling is to love our neighbors through both our actions and words.
